A Few More for the List

It was lovely to see the sun for a while today. I tried to make the most of it by getting a few more patch bird photos in the bag. I didn't get as many as I'd hoped for, there just isn't that much around at the moment although it was nice to see plenty of waders on the estuary including a flock of seventy-five Dunlin by the tram sheds, the most I've seen for ages, but then again I don't actually look all that often! Most birds were way too distant to photograph but there were a few Godwits reasonably close in at Coronation Corner.

I had a look around at the yacht club but it was almost bird-less, probably because they've been doing lots of ground works on the beach car park and the mooring basin. All I managed to photograph was this scabby looking thing...

Then I went to Black Hole Marsh. I'm pretty sure it's the first time I've visited since the Spotted Crake was there in October. I was planning on going to the tower hide to get some nice Gull photos but I spent so long getting there (having stopped twice to chat to other birders) that when I arrived the tide was in!
So I looked on the lagoon instead where there were only a few potential ticks. Teal, Black-headed Gull and Coot were all a bit too distant but I got Little Egret and Shelduck.... There wasn't anything else!

Catching up on your posts, finally. Very good photos of the carrion crow and egret. The black and white of it, so to speak. Wishing you a wonderful 2013. cheers, Wilma
