Bufflehead Unpopular!?

Well with some anyway. I was looking through some of the hundred or so photos I took on Sunday before deleting them from the hard drive forever when I spotted this rather amusing one of the Bufflehead being shunned, or perhaps the Mergansers were just being dazzled by its brilliant iridescent head!

Which is purple here...

.... but green here. Cool!

Sorry for sticking more photos on (to anyone who may be gripped) but it seems a shame to waste reasonable ones like these. Oh yes and I forgot to post this one too..

Whilst watching the Bufflehead I couldn't help being distracted by this lovely drake Pintail sitting on the shoreline. I've never taken a photo of Pintail before because they always seem to be asleep!
