Whilst off patch yesterday we received news that Steve had located nine Woodlarks in a field in the Axmouth/Rousen area. This is the third year in succession that they have returned to roughly the same area of our patch, and very welcome they are too. This morning we got out there nice and early to look for them. When we arrived Ian M was already looking and together we eventually spotted them flying from one field to another and fortunately saw the exact spot they had landed in. We approached cautiously and enjoyed very good scope views as they scurried around in the stubble. Great little characters they are; always worth the effort involved in locating them. They were way too far away for good photos, so I took a couple of bad ones instead. We also saw the patch's other celebrities today, the Whooper and Bewick's Swans, and five Brent Geese.
