Ashclyst Forest and Aylsbeare Common

On Monday I visited Ashclyst Forest to look for White Admirals and Silver-washed Fritillaries. I was pleased to see both species quite easily, especially after missing out on White Admiral here last year. Today I made a quick trip to Aylsbeare Common hoping to see Southern Damselfly, I didn't but I did see Bog Pimpernel, a new plant for me and on the way back to the car was very fortunate to see a family of Dartford Warblers cross the path in front of me. I was just quick enough to get a shot of the male before they went on their merry way.

Silver-washed Fritillary - Argynnis paphia

A typical view of White Admiral.

This one was a bit worn with plenty of scratches.
They don't stay pristine for long in the bramble patches

So this must be a very fresh one.

White Admiral - Limenitis camilla

Bog Pimpernel - Anagallis tenella

Male StonechatSaxicola rubicola

Male Dartford Warbler - Sylvia undata
