A Walk in The Woods

I went for a walk in a couple of local woods today, both long time favourite dog walking spots. It wasn't quite the same without Rex though :-( There wasn't a whole lot to photograph especially at Morganhayes Covert near Colyton where they have done a lot of logging during the winter, much to the detriment of the vegetation. I hope it hasn't affected the Silver-washed Fritillaries, only time will tell as they don't usually emerge here until mid to late July. I saw my fist Ringlets of the year, a new species of Hoverfly and and best of all the white form of Cut-leaved Cranesbill.

Ringlet - Aphantopus hyperantus

Large Skipper - Ochlodes sylvanus on
Red Clover - Trifolium pratense

Cheilosia illustrata

Volucella Bombylans

White form of Cut-leaved Cranesbill - Geranium dissectum

Tutsan Hypericum androsaemum

Slender St. John's Wort - Hypericum androsaemum
