I had completely forgotten about the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter this evening, until Phil kindly texted me to say Venus was 'showing well' below the moon. I think the spectacle was only visible for around an hour before setting in the southwest. I went up to the seafront for a look and it was stunning. The crescent moon, Venus and Jupiter all very close together and casting a lovely orange glow on the sea. Apparently this is the closest Venus and Jupiter will be until the year 2052. Glad I didn't miss it. If you're reading this THANKS Phil!! :-)
I tried to take some pictures but they don't do it much justice, you'll get an idea though. I suppose you had to be there!
I also had a look at Jupiter through my scope and could see three of its moons quite clearly too.

Venus just below the crescent moon

Stunning view from the Yacht Club this evening.
Very nice! I too got Phil's helpful text, but when I rushed outside the moon was nowhere to be seen. If I had realised it would be an inch above the southern horizon I might have bothered to toddle down the seafront. Ah well, not long to wait till it happens again...
